Adam is building collaboration skills for a climate-ready community in Ipswich, UK. An English teacher (currently doing supply and tutoring) and author of a book on Czech animation, Adam has recently helped set up a local climate and community hub. Alongside conversations and action, he believes something simple but powerful belongs at its heart: play.

Adam wants to stock the hub with cooperative board games - the kind where players solve puzzles, tell stories and win together, rather than compete against one another. In his view, escalating climate breakdown will demand far more cooperation and collaboration than competition. Practising those skills now, in a safe and welcoming environment, feels both sensible and community-minded.

With $500, Adam will expand the hub’s collection of cooperative games, building on the few he has already donated himself. No more Monopoly or Risk - instead, tables filled with neighbours learning to strategise, listen and problem-solve together. A small but meaningful rehearsal for the kind of future we may need to build side by side.
