Leigh is creating a celebration where everyone can show up exactly as they are. A writer, reader and community organiser (albeit a shy one at parties), Leigh helps run Brighton Neurodivergent Community in the UK — a group that has been hosting social events for neurodivergent adults for the past four years. What began as small, self-funded comedy nights, Pride gatherings and monthly socials has grown into a thriving community of over 700 members.
With $500, Leigh will help take their events to the next level by booking a private venue — creating a truly accessible, neurodivergent-friendly space designed with care and intention. Their dream? To throw a Prom for community members who never had one, didn’t feel welcome at theirs, or simply couldn’t attend.
This won’t be a typical prom. There’ll be a silent disco to manage noise levels, quiet spaces to cool off and reset, and plenty of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Most importantly, it will be a night built around comfort, acceptance and joy — a space where neurodivergent adults can unwind, celebrate themselves and each other, and be reminded that they are more than enough, exactly as they are.
