Tom is creating a more equal and inspiring learning environment for his students in West London. A secondary school teacher in Hayes, Tom is constantly learning from the young people he teaches - many of whom come from diverse cultural backgrounds and speak English as an additional language. He has seen how access to the right resources can shape both confidence and opportunity. With $500, Tom will transform his school’s library into a more inclusive and representative space, introducing books that reflect students’ identities alongside accessible texts like graphic novels, revision guides and dual-language materials. He will also provide essential learning tools - from stationery to subject-specific resources - ensuring every student can participate fully in lessons without feeling disadvantaged. By combining representation with practical support, Tom’s idea helps students feel seen, equipped and empowered to succeed.
