Gemma is turning a personal meditation practice into a public act of kindness in Brighton, UK. An illustrator and jeweller with a love for nature, poetry and human connection, Gemma has been deeply impacted by “loving kindness” meditation - a practice of wishing happiness, safety and love for others, from close friends to complete strangers. With $500, she will bring this invisible practice into the physical world by creating 30–40 small, thoughtful gifts to hand out to strangers on her daily bus journey and beyond. Each gift will include a hand-illustrated card with a message of goodwill and an invitation to pay the kindness forward. She will also use the budget to support local independent makers, commissioning items from small businesses in Brighton. Equal parts courageous and generous, Gemma’s idea transforms quiet intention into visible connection - with the potential to ripple kindness across her city.
